Known as an expert in all things lighting, Karen has become a well known specialist in her field. Over the last 15 years she has been nominated and won three prestigious ARTS awards and has established Hinsdale Lighting as one of the best residential and hospitality showrooms in the U.S. Karen has built a business which specializes in lighting design for up-market residential and commercial clients who are seeking unique lighting applications, bespoke designs, and assistance with architectural lighting specifications. Hinsdale Lighting’s ability to source the perfect lighting for the design, scale and budget of a project is the bedrock of the company’s unique place in the market. Karen is a past showroom chair of the American Lighting Association and a proud member of the Lighting Showroom Association. She has served as an editor for Industry Trade Publications and presently serves as a consultant to lighting manufacturers on the needs of the marketplace and design trends. Karen received her BA from DePauw University and holds an MS from Northwestern.
Megan earned her BFA in Interior Design from Harrington College of Design and has worked in the design industry for 10 years. Since 2011, Megan has worked for Hinsdale Lighting helping clients find the perfect fixtures for their projects, ensuring that their selections work cohesively with the project’s space and design objectives. She has achieved the title of Master Designer which identifies her experience and level of expertise not only in lighting, but in design as well. Megan is an expert with furniture, rugs, mirrors, artwork and accessories. Because Megan manages her projects with the greatest care, clients often go out of their way to let us know how much they enjoy working with her. Megan lives in Lemont with her husband, Scudder and daughter, Lauretta.
Nora works with Karen as her right and (sometimes left) arm on projects big and small. Nora has a great eye for what works in a space and she has the ability to make her designs both functional and special at the same time. Always a ray of sunshine, Nora knows how to have fun and make things happen. Nora resides in Oak Park with her husband Matthew.
Sheila Karp is the left brain in our right brained world. Sheila earned her MBA at Northwestern University and is all things organizational and financial. She controls all finances, purchases and vendor transactions. When she is not calming the paperwork storm, Sheila enjoys traveling, yoga and investing. Sheila resides in Glen Ellyn with her husband, Steve, and her youngest daughter, Chloe.
Molly earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Central Michigan University. As the Showroom Manager, she uses her love of interior design and passion for customer service to assist our clients, manage our suppliers and handle the details of business that keeps us running smoothly. Molly is a strategic thinker, a problem solver and the original multi-tasker. Molly just “gets it” maybe because she is a longtime local. She resides in Oak Brook with her husband Mike and 3 children who are grown.
Maria is our jack of all trades as she is responsible for logistics, lightbulbs, receiving shipments and managing deliveries. Don’t let her job title fool you, Maria has a designer’s soul and understands that details matter. She is an excellent teammate and runs our warehouse single-handedly. Maria resides in Clarendon Hills with her husband and 2 boys.
